THE ORIELLES I ONLY BOUGHT IT FOR THE BOTTLE

'I Only Bought It For The Bottle' is the follow up to the mind-bendingly good debut single 'Sugar Tastes Like Salt' by the promising Heavenly-signed Halifax-hailing trio The Orielles. Quickly garnering attention for their light-hearted vocals, wonky-sounding guitars and a killer funky rhythm section, The Orielles' musical maturity way surpasses their years at only 21, 18 and 17, drawing comparisons to the dizzy heights of hip hop, post-punk and disco pioneers ESG. Taking inspiration from their shared love of film, the band explain "The track is loosely based upon Nicolas Winding Refn film The Neon Demon as it talks about the idea of how beauty has become a currency and that we no longer desire substance, yet seek things based on appearance and face value.
" Singer Esme amusingly compares the concept to the disappointment of clever marketing, getting sucked into buying a drink based on it's appealing design only to find out its contents "tasted like shit". It's kinda the same thing right? - HLMX
